Add an axes.frame_type="cartesian" | "polar" | "cylindrical" | "spherical" property
Reported by Samuel GOUGEON (@sgougeon)
-- Bug description --
In order to rationalize polar plotting in 2D as well as to extend it to 3D, it would be usefull to add a axes.type property, with 2 or 3 possible values: "cartesian", "polar", or even "cylindrical". And to review cartesian plotting commands to extend then to polar plotting. Then, commands like set(gca(),"grid",[color1,color2,-1]) would be supported in a natural way even in polar mode. Presently, polar griding is in no way related to the axes.grid (and axis.grid_position) properties.

polarplot()
set(gca(),"grid",[3,5,-1])
