why no space between prompt and command ?
Reported by Francois Granade
BUG DESCRIPTION:
----------------
This has been bothering me seriously, as a newbie, when I started using scilab -
*Every other command-line* software I have been using, has a space between the prompt and the cursor (and the text I type)
e.g.
Unix shell:
:~ francois$ echo hello > /dev/null
:~ francois$ # <-- there is a space before the "#", and before the "echo" above
python:
>>> print "yes"
yes
>>> # space here too, and below too !
...
>>>
Only Scilab has no space
-->printf "Hello"
Hello
-->// no space before here
this is a little disturbing to a new user, and most important it doesn't look serious.
I don't see any reason why this is the case; I don't see any reason why it would cause problem to existsing users/existing scripts, etc... when changing it.
Also, this may be a good way to remind users, in 6.0, that the language has changed, thus there may be different behaviors.
Maybe it would be worth having a function (an option) to set the prompt, so that people can revert if they are not happy about it. Maybe only to implement if it's easy. (note that it could not be called "setprompt" unfortunately as we use the word "prompt" for something else - which should be called "input" or something similar - but that's not the right moment to change this)
