wizard things about null() not mentioned anywhere include:
* type(null())==0;
* a=null() clears any variable a, not just list members;
* any intrinsic function or macro returning no value is equivalent to null():
-->type(clf())
ans =
0.
-->a=1; a=clf(); exists("a")
ans =
0.
I remark that this last point may be used to argue that argn(1) really needs to
be >0 (see discussion e.g. in
